Commissions

Mon Nov 14, 2005, 2:08 AM
It's about time I did this, I guess. I haven't been doing commissions seriously because every time I tried, I seemed to get ripped off. Out of all my years of randomly doing commissions, only 3 so far have actually ended up with me getting paid for my work.

I guess I was very easy to take advantage of, because I would do the work and THEN ask for payment. Well, not anymore. I had the option of either asking for payment before I even get started on the piece, or asking for payment after they approve of a sketch. I chose the latter because it felt more fair all around. So now what? Well, it's time to list prices and payment methods and whatnot!
*****************************************************************

Commission Status - Open!.
Requests - Rarely. Usually only if I know you, and only if I WANT to draw it.
Art Trades - Currently closed.

Commission Prices

Sketches - $10, +5 for each extra character.
Inked - $15, +5 for each extra character.
Digitally Coloured, No Background - $20-25, depending on difficulty.
Digitally Coloured, Background - $30-40, also depending on difficulty.
Furcadia Portraits - $15*.

Prices are not negotiable.

*I know most people only charge $10 for a Furcadia portrait. I charge $15 because they're more difficult for me than most of the other things I do, and $10 dollars just isn't worth all that trouble and frustration. Don't complain about it, get someone cheaper if $5 is that big of a deal to you.

Payment Methods and Policy

I will NOT take checks under any circumstances. I also do not have Paypal, but I have a friend that allows me to use his account if someone absolutely cannot pay through the mail, but money orders are by far preferred, and I might not accept commissions claiming they can only pay with Paypal unless they have a good reason (such as living in another country).

In other words, money orders unless you have a good reason for me to have to bother my friend about using his Paypal. Also, I do not accept Digos.

As for policy, here's what I do. You give me the most detailed description you can and any reference pictures you may have, then I do a sketch, show you, and if you approve of it, I'll ask for payment. Once I recieve payment (as in actually get it in my hands, not when you insist you actually sent it and that I should trust you) I'll complete the piece the way you wanted and paid for. The only exception to this is for when people just want sketches and nothing more, whereas I'll ask for payment before showing you the sketch (so you can't just take it and run off), and then go from there. Don't worry, unless you're particularly annoying about it, I don't mind doing edits, just try to get all the changes you want in one go and don't be unreasonable about it, and I won't mind. I want you to be happy with it, after all!

Almost forgot. While the drawings themselves are on paper, I don't send out originals, so you'll be paying for an online version.

Things I Won't Draw

Yiff/Porn. Tasteful nudity is fine, but nothing beyond that.
Extreme violence/gore. Not because I'm squemish, but because I don't think I'm quite up to that skill level to pull it off well, yet.
Copyrighted characters. This should be obvious, so I won't explain why.

My Specialty(s)
If you want the best I can do, you should know my specialty. My specialty in regards to gender is female (probably because I'm female, as well), and in regards to species, it has to be canines. I CAN draw other things, but it's more difficult and might not be as high quality as my female canines. Don't let that scare you off, I'll still do my best, just every artist has something they're best at. :)

On that note, colouring isn't something I'm terribly good at. I don't enjoy it, so while that won't stop me from doing it, my fun basically ends with the sketch (I don't like inking, either, because it's so easy to mess up). I might try my hand at traditional methods of colouring in the future, so look out for that; I might enjoy that a lot more!

One Last Thing!

As courtesy to those who would commission me, I must confess. I'm a slow artist. If I don't like something, I start over, and usually I go through several sketches before showing one to the commissioner. While I don't take a year like some artists to complete a commission, I can take a month or two, depending on my life and workload. On that note (again), commissions will be done on a first come first serve basis. This means that if you're the fifth person to want to commission me, it might take a while before I get to you. Don't worry, if this is ever the case, I'll warn you about it and let you decide whether you want to wait or not. I don't bite, I swear!
-
I suppose that's all. I'm going to be referring anyone who asks to commission me to this journal, so please read it all if you want a commission so I won't have to repeat anything. Feel free to ask me though if you're curious/confused about something!

Relax and take care of yourselves. All of you, even those of you who hate me. ;)

Much love!

What about them? XD

You mean, can I do them? Well, I haven't tried. You'd have to show me what you wanted and I'd have to give it a shot. We can do all that when I get you guys to come over soon, hopefully.

Hullo! I was actually interested in having an ink done. Two characters. (If you don't have too much of a heavy workload.) If you're willing, send me a note. (Sorry, random, I know.)
